Information & Referral

Information and Referral is one of the 5 Core tenets of our work at Disability Network Mid-Michigan (DNMM) that builds community and changes lives.

The initial need of individuals contacting DNMM is typically for information and possibly referral to community resources. This service is known as “Information and Referral” (I&R). We assist with any disability-related questions regarding your rights, the law, accessibility, community resources and more.

Personal Empowerment

I&R is a primary means of promoting personal empowerment. Folks can get accurate information, they can get meaningful referrals, increase their knowledge base, and increase their independence. Information referral supports an individual's capacity for self-reliance and self-determination, it assumes competence and the ability of those who are contacting us for assistance to use the information to support their own needs in the most meaningful way. I&R also provides education, affirmation, collaborative planning, and problem-solving. It serves as the gateway to providing CIL consumers with information, knowledge, and resources efficiently and responsively.
